You want the breakthrough. You just do not want the wait.
That is the struggle, isn’t it? We pray. We believe. Then we grow restless when God does not move on our timetable. So we strike out on our own. We force doors. We manufacture results. And we wonder why the fruit rots before it ripens.
Waiting on God is not passive. It is not weakness. It is warfare.
What the Hebrew Reveals
The word for wait in Isaiah 40:31 is the Hebrew word qavah. It means to wait, to look for, to hope, to expect. But here is what most believers miss. Qavah also carries the picture of binding together, like the twisting of strands into a strong cord.
That changes everything.
When you wait on God, you are not sitting idle. You are being intertwined with Him. Your strength is being braided into His. Your weak, frayed thread is being wound around the unbreakable rope of His power.
Read it again. “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
The strength comes in the waiting. Not before it. Not in spite of it.
Hurry Is Often Rebellion in Disguise
Why do we rush ahead? Often it is because we trust our own striving more than His timing. We call it faith. Heaven calls it the flesh.
Abraham could not wait, so Ishmael was born. Saul could not wait, so he lost his kingdom. The pattern is ancient. Impatience always costs more than the wait ever would have.
So what about you? What promise are you trying to fulfill in your own strength right now?
Stop striving. Start binding yourself to Him.
The wait is not God ignoring you. The wait is God strengthening you. The eagle does not flap frantically. It waits for the wind, then it mounts up and soars.
Your wind is coming. Position yourself.
